Mark Spraggins is active as a composer of music for the stage, studio and screen. His concert music has been performed widely and includes works for orchestra, choir, wind ensemble, percussion ensemble, string quartet, piano, mixed ensembles and electronics. His music has been performed internationally in Norway, Sweden, Italy, France, Austria and the Czech Republic. 

 

Recent film projects include a score for Mahmoud Salimi's award-winning film Perfect Restaurant (2025 - 1st prize in the Sama International Film Festival, Sweden) and Dante Spraggins' Wisteria (2024).

 

Studio projects include a string quartet arrangement for the song 2-805 by Sullivan Grace (to be released in January 2026). Mark has also recorded as a guitarist, pianist and percussionist.

 

A native of Virginia, Mark completed his composition studies in 2004 at the Flora Thornton School of Music, University of Southern California (Los Angeles). He is currently chair of the Music Department at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks California, where he teaches courses in music composition and is founder of the university's music production program.
